The Role

Seeking a skilled Transportation Manager to join our team! In this role you will be responsible for the overall management of the transportation department and personnel.

 

Job Duties:

  • Manage utilization and maintenance expenses of all transportation assets.
  • Create and maintain a maintenance schedule for all transportation equipment.
  • Ensure daily inspections of vehicles are compliant with regulations.
  • Review and establish haul rates.
  • Evaluate fleet size and mix and recommend additions/subtractions accordingly.
  • Building and maintaining positive relationships with vendors.
  • Define and refine departmental processes.
  • Manage the department to meet or exceed defined metrics, P&L expectations, and operate within established departmental budget.
  • Maintain high standard of excellence, quality services, operating integrity, and positive customer image.
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of DOT, CSA and CMV regulations on continual basis.
  • Keep current with the transportation industry. Seek out additional knowledge of value to enhance operating proficiency.
  • Working knowledge of state licensing and registration laws and insurance requirements.
  • Collect and maintain valid Certificates of Insurance for outside hauling vendors.
  • Coach and mentor dispatchers on load assignments to ensure dispatching efficiency and performance.
  • Monitor all on duty drivers and their driving time to ensure compliance with Federal and State laws as well as company policy.
  • Travel is required for training and/or to assist at other locations.

  • 3+ years management experience
  • Ability to dispatch personnel and equipment according to schedules and workloads.
  • Ability to motivate, empower, lead, and develop employees.
  • Strong communication skills
  • Proactive, analytical and detail oriented
