The Role

Our Heavy Equipment Technical Consultant will provide superior support in the provision of technical information and provide solutions through the use of technology and provided resources.  Act as a consultant/advisor for the customer and influence the sale of parts and service. 

 

What you will do in this job:

  • Communicate and adhere to Foley’s safety culture and guidelines during every interaction
  • Provide technical consultation to customers to include troubleshooting, repair advice, answering technical and service questions, resolution of product issues, etc. May also assist internal service technicians, parts personnel and others on a limited basis
  • Perform failure analysis when requested; this includes fact gathering, analysis of the facts, and determining the root cause
  • Communicate with Caterpillar on updates and product problems
  • Identify and process parts orders and work orders
  • Identify service department activity needs and coordinate appropriately
  • Utilize service tickets to document customer conversations
  • Generate leads in CRM and assign to ISR/PSRs for follow up
  • Provide technical advice on warranty matters
  • Participate in a variety of special projects
  • Maintain open communication and working relationship with sales, service and parts personnel

Our Ideal Candidate

  • Technical school degree or certificate and/or 3 years hands-on technical experience
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures
  • Strong technical ability and understanding of our products and services and our customer’s use and application
  • Knowledge of electronic engines, software and communication devices
  • Knowledge of warranty practices
  • Excellent phone and customer relations skills
  • Strong oral and written communication
  • Strong planning, creativity, organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to think and act strategically and capable of teaching new skills and knowledge
  • Strong computer skills

What will put you ahead:

  • Previous experience with electronic engine software or communications devices, and previous sales and/or customer relations experience preferred
